By Marcie Quintana Are website icons the new logo? These days the icon that you choose to represent your site or app is as important as the logo you choose for your business. Icons can be found on your wireless device, and across the web designating ways to share information across platforms. With information sharing, and mobile communication being so prominent in our lifestyles today, an icon is necessary for any brand. The design should accurately represent your brand, in a neatly packaged 57x57pixel square.* One of my personal beliefs is that the best things come in small packages, so I’ve decided to provide a light-hearted, and fun blog post about 6 of my favorite icon style trends!Black and White: These icons depict a sophisticated and clean look and feel. Cute Mascots: More and more websites are branding with cute mascots to their name. Here are some of my favorite icons that you will want to download and hug!Icon As Object: During my research I thought it very clever of these Apps to think outside the box, while ironically staying inside the box. All of these icons display an object that conforms to a square. Minimalism: Sleek and to the point, these icons say it all without saying too much. Ornate/Colorful: Flexing their colorful design muscles, these icons are easy to spot when grouped with competitors for their colorful, vibrant, and eye-catching aesthetic. Realistic: I like to think of these as the “Leanardo DaVinci’s" of icons. These App Icons are categorized by their realistic nature, as opposed to their “cartoon-y" counterparts.Personal Icons: I couldn’t write this post and not join the icon app fun. Check out our USA Web Solutions icon, along with my personal icon that I designed to represent myself. I decided to take a Minimalistic approach! What is your favorite icon style?*Size for App icons on home screen only, other icon pixel sizes vary depending on where the icon is displayed. Note: All apps can be found in iTunes App Store and/or Android Market, and are some of the best apps around. Feel free to check them out!
